Vivian Floyd |
|
Vivian completed her full comprehensive teaching training certification from the Pilates Center of Austin in 2005 and
continued her Pilates education by attending the Bridge teacher training program of Power Pilates, NYC in 2006.
A member of Pilates Method Alliance since 2005, Vivian attained Personal Training Certification through Scirion Institute in 2005.
She continued her Pilates education and teaching method by attending workshops 2 - 3 times per year. Vivian also has 20 years of professional background in the semiconductor industry as an engineer and account manager.
Vivian's initial training with the Pilates Center of Austin provided her the solid foundation of Pilates methodology, while also teaching the why and how and what's appropriate for a client, rather than merely memorizing exercise technique and flow. Her second training program with Power Pilates enhanced her natural teaching ability by adding effective cueing and additional exercise modifications. Joining her husband Tom Floyd in their studio, Pilates Connections, became the highlight of her Pilates teaching career. Initially teaching part time in the evening and weekends, she recently decided to be full time due to the increasing clientele demand and her growing passion to Pilates. She also joined the Gregory Gym fitness center of University of Texas, as a part time Pilates trainer. As with other Pilates success stories, Vivian can relate her own after experiencing the effects of heel spur surgery and lately severe (close to debilating) sciatica due to spondylolisthesis. The first condition led her to Pilates, while the second led her own educational recovery trip against drastic pain management advice. Vivian's approach in teaching is first, correct form. Second, slow but precise movement. A client attaining this first level of capability facilitates the next level (stability, strength, stamina and range of motion). She enjoys teaching a variety of sessions, beginner to advanced, private and group sessions. Her goal is to continue her education and dissiminate the benefit and versatility of Pilates Method of exercise. |
